List of countries that have reopened for American tourists
- Aruba: U.S. citizens will have to fill out an online health declaration form and upload a negative covid PCR test 72 hours before boarding. This way, no test needs to be done upon arrival.
- Bahamas: Americans can travel to Bahamas right now with proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 5 days. The test must be uploaded to your online travel health visa before heading to the Bahamas. For all stays over 4 nights, a 2nd rapid antigen test will be taken on the 5th day of your stay.
- Barbados: Travelers need to bring a negative-PCR test no older than 72 hours before departure.
- Belize: U.S. travelers will need a COVID PCR test within 72 hours of travel for fast track at airport. Passengers who do not bring a negative test will be tested at the airport at the traveler"s own cost and could face quarantines while awaiting results.
- Bermuda: To be able to head down for a vacation, Americans will need to bring a negative covid PCR test no older than 72 hours before boarding AND take another test upon arrival.
- Brazil: Brazil reopened its borders, basically without any restrictions, and is allowing American tourists to visit as of July 30, 2020. Brazil is only asking visitors to have valid travel insurance that covers covid, and a visa, however US citizens no longer need a visa to visit Brazil for up to 90 days.
- Chile: Chile is reopening for tourism in December and has stated that American tourists will be permitted to enter. A 72-hour PCR test will be required, as well as a contact tracing app, but no quarantines.
- Colombia: As of November 4, the PCR test requirement has been removed for American tourists.
- Costa Rica: Americans may travel to Costa Rica as of November 1st, 2020. As of October 26th, the PCR test requirement has also been dropped making it easier than ever for Americans to visit.
- Croatia: Americans need to fill out an online form before going, and show proof of accommodation or tourist-based activity. Croatia is now requiring Americans to bring a negative-PCR test.
- Dominican Republic: The Dominican Republic does not require COVID-19 testing or quarantines and is also providing American travelers with free COVID-19 insurance until December 2020.
- Ecuador: Americans can now travel to Ecuador WITHOUT quarantine, as long as they bring a negative PCR test, no older than 10 days.
- Egypt: Americans traveling to Egypt must present a negative PCR test certificate for COVID-19, taken at a maximum of 96 hours before their flight departure time.
- French Polynesia (Tahiti & Bora Bora): U.S citizens must bring a negative covid PCR test before boarding the flight and they will be tested again on arrival.
- Ghana: American tourists must bring results of a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 72 hours prior to departure. The test must be taken in the country of origin. Another mandatory test will be performed at the airport upon arrival.
- Guatemala: American tourists will need to bring a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 72 hours prior to the flight.
- Honduras: US tourists will need to bring proof of a negative covid test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival, but it can be either a PCR -or- a Rapid Test.
- Jamaica: Jamaica is requiring all American's visiting to first fill out an online Travel Authorization Card that includes a negative PCR test for COVID-19.
- Kenya: Passengers arriving in Kenya must bring a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of flying or they will face a mandatory 14 day self-isolation.
- Kosovo: No testing/quarantine is required! Pristina airport is reopen, as well as land borders between Montenegro and Albania. While the USA does not fly directly to Kosovo, Americans can transit in London or Istanbul.
- Maldives: Americans will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test that was taken no more than 96 hours prior to departure.
- Mexico: No tests needed. As of June, many tourist cities like Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, Cabo, and Puerto Vallarta have reopened their hotels and are ready to welcome American guests.
- Morocco: Morocco has reopened for American tourists, however still restricting travel between cities, and most cities have strict curfews in place. Also, when Morocco closed the first time, some foreigners found themselves trapped for months. Americans will need to fill out the online health form, bring a 72 hour negative PCR test, show proof of a hotel reservation, and more.
- Nicaragua: Americans can travel to Nicaragua as of September 1st, 2020. Nicaragua never really closed their borders for tourism in the first place, but flights were suspended, effectively cutting the nation off to Americans. Direct flights from Houston and Miami resumed Oct 1. "‹"‹"‹"‹"‹"‹"‹
- Panama: American tourists can travel to Panama as of October 12, 2020. However, all U.S. passengers will have to bring a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 48 hours before arrival.
- Pakistan: Americans can travel to Pakistan as of October 5th, 2020. All passengers will have to bring a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 96 hours before arrival.
- Peru: All passengers will have to bring a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 72 hours before arrival.
- Puerto Rico: Negative-PCR tests are needed to gain access to the island.
- Rwanda: Americans will need to bring a negative-PCR test taken at most 72 hours before arrival and be ready to be tested again upon arrival.
- Serbia: Serbia is a landlocked European nation that borders Montenegro, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania. Americans can travel to Serbia as of June 22nd, 2020.
- South Africa: Americans can travel to South Africa as of November 12, 2020. All arrivals will need to bring proof of a negative PCR test, administered no more than 72-hours before departure.
- St. Lucia: Americans are required to fill out an online form, bring a negative covid test, taken no longer than 7 days before departure in order to board their flight to Saint Lucia.
- St. Maarten: A PCR test will have to be taken no longer than 120 hours prior to arrival, with negative results.
- Tanzania: Americans can travel to Tanzania as of June 1st, 2020. Fancy a safari? Or how about climbing Mount Kilimanjaro? Maybe just laying on the white sandy beaches of Zanzibar? The African nation of Tanzania will allow tourists to come and do all of the above.
- Turkey: As of June 12th, 2020. Americans can travel to Turkey. Americans need to obtain an e-visa before traveling to Turkey. Direct flights have resumed from 7 American cities. At this time, no mandatory testing is required.
- Turks and Caicos: A negative-PCR test is required before arrival. Many cities fly directly into Turks and Caicos, including: New York, Charlotte, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, and Chicago.
- UAE (Dubai): Americans can travel to Dubai officially as of July 7, 2020. Must register "˜health declaration' on an app before the trip, bring a negative PCR test within 96 hours of boarding, and have health insurance to be able to enter. Emirates is flying directly to Dubai from Los Angeles, Chicago, New York Boston and Washington.
- Uganda: All passengers will need a 72 hour negative PCR test to enter, and another PCR test in order to leave the country.
- Ukraine: : As of August 1, US residents can bring a negative PCR test within 48 hours of arrival.
- US Virgin Islands: On June 1, 2020 the US Virgin Islands have reopened for tourism. American's don't even need a passport to go! U.S. citizens can fly to the USVI's directly from Atlanta, Miami, New York, Houston, Charlotte or Fort Lauderdale. As of July 10 they have recently updated entry requirements. If you are from a state with over 10% infection rate, you MUST bring a negative PCR test with you.
- Zambia: Americans need to bring a negative PCR test taken within 14 days of departure, and they do not have to quarantine upon arrival. There are no direct flights to Zambia from the USA, but travelers can easily transit through Istanbul.
